Arctic sea ice 2019 | Polarjournal

Arctic sea ice has reached this year its second lowest extent ever recorded. The warming of the Arctic Ocean, higher air temperatures and changed wind systems are also adding to the ice now, at the beginning of winter. The video summarizes some facts and explains some of the graphs from the World Meteorological Organization and the National Snow and Ice Data Center and gives a glimpse of winter 19/20.

The graphics created by the WMO (World Meteorological Organization) can be viewed here again if necessary.

The sea ice maps and the map of the Arctic Ocean and its regions can be viewed again here.
