Words are one of the most powerful tools for communicating information. Used properly, they can create images in people’s minds and let them experience the knowledge of the narrator.
However, speaking to different types of people requires different techniques, skills, and wording. Especially when people already have images in their minds about a topic like polar regions. These have moved into the focus of the media, of politicians, of business people and of the general public, partly due to BBC or National Geographic series, but also thanks to scientists and their work in and about these regions.
We at Polar Journal AG have lived and/or worked in the Arctic and Antarctic, dealt with different types of stakeholders and learned how to communicate with them in order to disseminate knowledge and facts. And we want to share our experience and knowledge with early career polar scientists, because we believe they are the future of the Arctic and Antarctic.
In the lecture series of APECS South Africa, we will talk about our experiences and give some examples of best practices on how to pass polar knowledge to the diverse polar community.
If you want to grab this opportunity to learn more about how we at Polar Journal AG diseminate information on Polar regions to different audiences, feel free to join us on
